This suspension bridge across the River Thames was built to replace an earlier wooden one which collapsed in 1828 due to the growing traffic. In the 1950s, it was proposed to replace it with a concrete span, but luckily this plan was successfully opposed and in 1965 the suspension bridge was reconstructed.
It is 235 feet long and has a weight restriction of 3 tonnes.
